Unfortunately propecia, otherwise called finasteride can cause low libido. There is a syndrome that develops in some men called the post finasteride syndrome which includes low libido that persists. I would not take propecia if you are concerned with libido. 

It is well known that 4-5% of men taking propecia will develop sexual side effects including low libido. This effect should resolve itself in a few months after discontinuation. I do not prescribe this drug to young men for this reason. IMO it is not an acceptable side effect. 

As mentioned above, finasteride can cause decreased libido in a small minority of men... fortunately for most men, this decreased libido is temporary and will resolve after stopping finasteride. In a subset of men who experience decreased libido while on finasteride, this effect can be long term (this is called post-finasteride syndrome). This is pretty rare and is more common in men who have been taking finasteride for a long time. I would recommend another option to treat your hair and recommend consulting with your local dermatologist about your options. Hope this helps!
