The pulsed dye laser is the industry standard for treating redness. It is most commonly used to treat redness from rosacea, excess sun exposure, and blood vessel lesions. However, I have used it to treat red KP of the face in a few patients with good success. I have one patient who got significant improvement after just one session at relatively low settings. The cost is usually about the same as treatment of other conditions with this laser.

I have treated patients on Accutane w/ Pulse Dye Laser (Candela V-Beam)sucessfully. We use a longer pulse duration and lower energy fluennces. Test spots are ony used in our practice for darker skinned patients.
Unfortunately, stretch marks are considered a cosmetic condition and we do not know of any insurance provider that would cover this type of treatment. It is usually out of pocket. We do think that your physician has made a good recommendation for your stretch marks and we hope it works out well...
