Hyperpigmentation after chemical peel - permanent? (photo)

Question

I got 3 series of chemical peel at the salon and after the first chemical peel I developed after hyperpigmentation but not really noticeable. I went back and told the Esthetician about it. And had another 2 four weeks apart. And Hyperpigmentation turned really bad especially after 3rd one. The Esthetician said that will go away on it's own. Here are pictures on the 3rd day after the last chemical peel. PLEASE HELP. I'm afraid that this will be permanent. What should I do???

​Hyperpigmentation of any kind needs a combination approach of peels like cosmelan, enlighten and aerify along with dermarolling (EmerageSkin roller with anteage AERIFY MD ampules weekly,; lasers like Clear + Brilliant, Aerolase or Laser Genesis; radiofrequency like Venus Viva; and constant skin care and sun protection. Bimonthly facials with SilkPeel DermalInfusion are essential to hydrate, exfoliate and infuse vitamins and antioxidants into the skin. If you have acne you can do additional treatments and peels to get more improvement. Hypopigmentation will need more of an evaluation and possibly additional lasers to get improvement. Thank you for your question and picture. Chemical peels can result in the temporary appearance of skin discoloration due to uneven peeling or inflammation. In most cases, this resolves on its own in a matter of time. It’s not clear what type of peel you had, but at only 3-days post-treatment, I wouldn’t worry too much. Be sure to use sunscreen anytime you go outside and keep the area well moisturized.

Good morning and thank you for your question! I'm sorry to hear about your hyperpigmentation as a result of the chemical peel you received. Without knowing the type of chemical peel you had it is difficult to know how your skin should've reacted post-peel. Sometimes with deeper peels your skin can appear darker, but that typically subsides within about a week or so. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation will get better over time as long as you are diligent about wearing sunscreen during the day.
