Sudden sensitivity to older bridge. What can I do?

I have an older bridge that covers 3 teeth (the middle tooth is the one missing). The bridge is probably 6 years old and the back tooth is suddenly very sensitive to hot/cold. I've flossed under, over, around in hopes that would fix the problem but alas, it is not. Any ideas?

Sensitivity to hot and cold can sometimes be an indication of needing a root canal.  It is important you see a dentist asap and have an X-ray taken and that area examined.  You may have decay that is irritating the pulp (the nerve), and the sooner you have it taken care of the better.

you should see a dentist soon for an exam and an x-ray. It’s possible that
there is decay at the margin of that tooth or under the bridge abutment (crown)
itself. If that’s the case and it’s left untreated, you could need a root canal
or even lose the tooth.

Its important to visit your dentist right away and have him/her evaluate the bridge, which will also require taking xrays to determine its condition as well.All the best.

There are several things that may be causing sensitivity around your old bridge. It may be loose and food and bacteria are leaking underneath. Your bite may have changed requiring a little adjustment. Lastly the tooth may be dying requiring a root canal. I would suggest visiting your dentist for a thorough exam.
