That rymes..lol . If its extreme sports like tackle football then you may need to wear something more protective, but I believe your DDS could make a mouthguard that fits over your aligners so you could straighten your teeth while wearing you mouthguard. Just thinking outside the box...
Unless the sport requires a mouthguard it should be fine to wear your aligners. They hold so well to the teeth that they are unlikely to come out if you fall or get bopped in the head. But if your sport requires a mouthguard (football, wrestling, basketball) than just remove you aligner and place it in your mouthguard case while you are playing/practicing. Good luck!
If the sport is a full contact sport, a sport specific guard is better. Invisalign aligners will not cushion impact or offer protection. If the sport is not contact, such as chess or mathlete competitions, then there should be no problem. Even sports like track should be fine with Invisalign.
When it comes to Invisalign trays, typically the higher number would be the last set. So if you have a higher number than odds are that is where you left off.
But they have to be sure to use the right insurance codes. They insurance company does not care if braces are glued to the teeth or if you use removable aligners. As long as the goal is to move teeth, it should be covered.
