Hi! I am a 42 yr old male that has undergone 2 fue surgeries for my crown (roughly 3200 grafts) a botched smp for density, laser removal of smp then reapplication from a great smp artist. I am interested in body hair to scalp surgery and my question is: have you seen good success with bht to scalp transplants?
Answer: You can have a successful BHT FUE procedure. FUE hair transplants are getting more advanced, and body hair transplant (BHT) is great for those who don't have enough donor hairs on their scalp. However, not every FUE surgeon is adequately equipped for BHT yet. You need to be thorough in your research for the right clinic/surgeon for it. Check out some BHT results in the link attached to this: successful BHT is absolutely possible.

Answer: Body Hair for Hair Transplantation The use of body hair as source of hair follicles for treatment of hair loss is a common question I receive. The short answer is yes. Body hair (chest, back and beard) may be used as source of hair follicles for transplantation. In order to determine if this would be a good solution for you, a consultation is required, since the scalp needs to be evaluated, along with the potential areas from where the hairs will be harvested. One of the potential issues with body hair is that the survival rate is typically lower during transplantation, and their longevity may be questionable. You may call and schedule a consultation with me if you wish. Good luck!

Answer: Body hair to scalp transplant Hello, and thank you for your question. Body hair-to-scalp transplants are possible but not performed often. It takes a very experienced surgeon and a patient with a very robust donor area to succeed. If you decide you want to go through with it, I would caution you to do your homework and find a very experienced surgeon to get excellent results. Best of luck to you. Dr. T

Answer: Body hair transplants Body hair transplants can work reasonably well but they do not have as much of a dramatic “wow” effect as when using scalp hair. I would like to point out that the skill of the surgeon removing the grafts really matters. Survival of grafts is really really dependant on the skill of the surgeon. A good surgeon can get these grafts out reasonably well with 40-70 % survival (sometimes more). A novice body FUE surgeon will achieve much lower survival. Body Hair FUE can be much more difficult than scalp FUE!! I tell my patients that there is a big difference between choosing a surgeon for scalp FUE and body hair FUE. You can sometimes luck out with getting good scalp FUE results when you go with the best deal or cheapest surgery …. but please be really careful when choosing a surgeon for body FUE. Have a good conversation with the surgeon about what to expect, how many grafts can be harvested and where they will be placed. After 2 surgeries the scalp is usually still pretty receptive to receiving more grafts. But do keep in mind that body hair grafts are super delicate and these delicate grafts give up easily if conditions are not right. Poor growth is commonly seen. Be sure to see an expert:
