Does eyebrow hair grow back after being scraped off?

Question

I fell on concrete and scraped some of my eyebrow off and had to get stitches. I know that hair does not grow on scars but I am wondering if the surrounding area will grow the hair back after being scraped off from a brush burn type injury. The area is currently pinkish, and if the hair does grow back how long until it does?

I am sorry to hear of your eyebrow trauma. In many cases, the eyebrow hair will regrow; however, there are unfortunate cases where the eyebrow hair does not grow back. Give it about 6 months to see what comes back. If you have gaps or if you do not have regrowth, there is a solution. In the modern era of follicular unit hair transplantation, single hairs can be placed to fill in any gaps in your eyebrows. Eyebrows will usully grow after partial thickness abrasions.  The chances are unpredictable.  Topical agents may hasten regrowth.Please use this information when consulting in person with an experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon prior to making treatment decisions.

This is very unpredictable. It may take up to 6 months for regrowth to occur. Sometimes there will be no regrowth or gaps in the brow.

sometimes the eyebrow hair regrows and if it does, it will take about 8 months for the hair to cycle. Sometimes it does not regrow and transplants become the only options for replacing it.
