Is Picosure a good option for removing dark spots on the face and reducing acne scarring/wrinkles? I know it's marketed for tattoo removal, but heard recently this could be an alternative to CO2 laser with less down time.
Answer: Picosure Picosure is a great option to address dark spots, acne scarring, and fine lines. Picosure is designed to produce less heat damage to the surrounding areas which leads to a faster recovery time and fewer side effects. This procedure may require at least 3-4 treatments to reach desired results. Treatment intervals vary between 2-4 weeks but can be up to 8 weeks for darker skin types. The number of treatments will vary per patient dependent on skin type and what is being treated. It is important to be evaluated by a laser expert prior to your treatment so that it can be customized to your personal specifications. Maximum results are best seen about 12 weeks after treatment but can be noticed as early as 4-6 weeks. Everyday wear and tear and sun exposure are also contributing factors to how long results may last for. @drdonyoo

Answer: Best treatments for brown spots and sun damage Yes, pico-second lasers are a great option for treating brown spots caused by sun damage and other factors. These lasers feature rapid-pulse technology that effectively shatter the melanin in the skin to eliminate the discoloration. The procedure is quick and there is little or no downtime after treatment. Some patients may require more than one treatment session to achieve full results. I recommend working with an experienced, board-certified dermatologist with expertise using these devices to ensure the best possible results.

Answer: Hyperpigmentation--Clear+Brilliant/Venus Viva, emeragecosmetics Cosmelan/Enlighten/AERIFY peel, Aerolase, Reveskin bleaching picosure isnt good for pigmentation and neither is co2 laser unless you have brown spots from sun damage. melasma would be terrible to treat with co2. I suggest you see an expert and do a consultation. at home peels like cosmelan and enlighten should be performed now at home. this is post inflammatory hyperpigmentation/melasma/discoloration that needs cosmelan or enlighten peels at home which we can do virtually and send to your home along with aerify peels regularly, vivatia foam, restorsea 10x, faith essence serum, and cosmelan 2 cream. Hyperpigmentation from any type needs a combination approach of peels like cosmelan, enlighten and aerify, lasers like clear and brilliant and aerolase or laser genesis, radiofrequency like venus viva, and constant skin care and sun protection. Bimonthly facials with silk peel dermalinfusion is essential to hydrate, exfoliate and infuse vitamins and antioxidants into the skin. If you have acne you can do additional treatments and peels to get more improvement. I suggest a formal consultation with an expert in lasers and peels. Best, Dr. Emer.
