Can the mole on my nose be removed without leaving a large scar or crater/pit? (Photo)

Question

I have had this mole on my nose for most my life, but it was not present in my youth. It has gotten slightly bigger & slightly raised, but minimal changes still. I want to have it removed, but I do not want a crater from a scar or at least not a noticeable scar in its place. Is this possible? Who would perform this best; dermatologist or a plastic surgeon? Also is there a "best" way to remove to avoid scarring, if at all possible? Thank you.

I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Moles can be removed with laser, radiowave or shave. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

In our practice I prefer to do shave removal of benign moles, especially on the face. This allows for the most cosmetic result with little to no significant scarring. The only difficulty is when the lesion is deeply pigmented as some pigment can be left behind. An evaluation by an experienced Dermatologist would be your best course of action. Be wary of someone recommending the mole be excised on your nose. The resulting scar is usually worse than the original lesion.
