Bad taste in mouth and tingling/burning tongue 1 week after crown placed. Is this normal?

I had a gold and a porcelain crown put on a week ago and I am have a bitter metallic taste in my mouth with a burning/tingling tongue. I went back to the dentist and he said it's not from the procedure and I must have changed my diet, which I haven't.

Based on your reported symptoms, the first thing I would consider is a hypersensitivity (allergic) reaction to metal being placed in your mouth. I've experienced similar situations in my practice and the issue was resolved by replacing crowns containing metal with full ceramic substrate crowns.
