My tooth got brown under the crown (Photo)

That is a normal color for a tooth after the enamel has been removed. The enamel of the tooth is whiter in color. The dentin under the enamel is darker naturally.

Tooth discoloration is very common under crowns. Often the discoloration comes from old silver filling staining. Your tooth most likely had a large silver filling on it at one point and that’s why the color of tooth is darker. Another potential is that the old crown’s metal stained the tooth but this theory is much less likely since the old crown was only on the tooth for short period of time. Other potential reasons for tooth staining includes decay and tooth dying but I don’t believe either of these two are the reasons why your tooth is dark.
