What is this vertical line down my forehead? (Photo)

Question

I’m a 28 year old female, I weigh 112 pounds. I’ve always had this line down my forehead but I only see it in certain light/angles. I can feel it with my fingers when I press down in the area. It feels like a small gap. Just wondering what it is and what I can do to fix it- if anything. Thanks!

Hello ashleigh000, thank you for your question! While it's always ideal to have an in-person consultation and examination, there could be several possibilities here. From the attached photo it appears to be a vein, but if you feel an indentation, it could be an irregularity related to the underlying bone structure. If it’s a bony issue, a filler might help, but it's best to see a qualified medical professional in person for a proper assessment. I hope this helps! Neuromodulators (such as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau) and soft tissue fillers like Belotero can improve the appearance of the forehead by reducing lines, wrinkles and folds. Deeper lines and wrinkles need a combination approach with Botox, fillers, lasers, and microneedling/PRP. Hi and thanks for the question! This is the central forehead vein and sometimes you can also feel a slight depression in the bone underneath it. Unfortunately, there aren't great treatment options available. While you could have a procedure to cauterize this vein it may cause other veins in the area to become larger with time to redirect the bloodflow

Your vertical line down the forehead is something we see very often and is normal. It appears to be a vein. They are easier to see in slim people or those who have lost a lot of weight. Stress, pregnancy, high blood pressure and other things may make the vein(s) more prominent. Treatment options include long pulsed lasers such as the 1064 nm laser (e.g. GYag), sclerotherapy using a sclerosant such as Asclera (polydocinol), ambulatory microphlebectomy (removing the vein through a few tiny nicks in the skin). Removing the vein with microphlebectomy is definitive in that it is then gone. Laser and sclerotherapy treatment options are likely to take multiple sessions. The goal of the sessions is to irritate the inside of the vessel so that it closes and then the body needs to resorb that vein that is no longer working. After treatments things look worse before the begin to look better. A potential issue is that where the vein used to be can be left indented after the unwanted vein is absorbed or removed. This can be filled in with your own living fat (autologous fat transfer - AFT) after the vein procedure is fully healed. Good luck!

Hello! It's hard to tell exactly without examining the area in person, but it appears to be a vein. We all have veins that run from near the brows up the forehead toward the scalp. Some, unfortunately, are more visible than others. They're often compressible and then reappear. An option for treatment would be to tie of the vein near the brow and the hairline. It is always best to see you face to face for a consult and examination however in this case it could be a number of things - from the images it looks as thought it could be a vein but if you can feel an indentation it could be your bony structure underneath.
