Left side of my smile appears canted and uneven. I have had braces to correct overbite when I was younger. I also currently have veneers on my front six teeth that are showing along with bonding on the back teeth to build some of the teeth. what is acutely causing the issue (gum, bone, lip)? I would love to have a beautiful smile! Thank you!

Answer: Canted smile Dear phxsunnysmile, Your photographs are a great help on understanding your problem. A canted smile can be quite complicated and expensive to correct; so having a clear understanding of the cause(s) for the cant is important to analyze before performing any treatment. It can be caused by a uneven eruption of teeth, uneven growth of the bones or damage to the jaw joints. I would suggest visiting a prosthodontist and letting him/her take records to analyze your bite and jaw bone measurements. Spending extra time in the analysis will later pay dividends in receiving the correct treatment. Dr. Neal
