Can PDO thread sutures be seen in CT Scans?

Hello, I received PDO threads on my cheek bones about 7 months ago. Two months later I noticed puffiness in that area. After speaking with a cosmetic dermatologist she stated that it could be a late on set symptom of my PDO threads and a possibility of excision could be an option. This is a big decision. My question is if there is an imaging scan that could detect the sutures and identify the issue?

Hello. It is Dr.Hong Fresh Clinic Seoul. Unfortunatelly, PDO (Polydioxanone) thread sutures are typically made from a biocompatible material that is not radiopaque, meaning they do not show up clearly on X-rays, CT scans, or MRIs, like metal implants or other radiopaque materials.
So, removal is not easy as well, but possible. Hope you get treatment well and everything willbe okay.

Hello .Considering that PDO threads typically dissolve within 6 to 8 months, by seven months, they might not be easily detectable on imaging scans. However, residual effects or complications might still be visible or inferred through these scans, aiding in diagnosis and treatment planning.
