I regretfully got PDO threads 2 years ago. After my facelift, the have shifted and poking through my skin. I was told they would dissolve in 9 months and it over years. How can I dissolve or remove them?
Answer: PDO threads also known as polydioxanone strands typically dissolve after six to nine months. PDO threads also known as polydioxanone strands typically dissolve after six to nine months. They are specially designed for safe re-absorption by the body. If your goal is to achieve a younger-looking skin, a PDO lift is an ideal fit for you considering its low risk and the instant results that it can deliver with little downtime. PDO threads dissolve on their own due the body’s natural response to hydrolyze the polymer chain into smaller fragments that are then absorbed and metabolized. While the dissolving time, as stated, is typically around 6-9 months, there are several factors that can affect this timeline. Factors including the threads’ thickness, the treatment area, patient’s age, lifestyle factors, and most importantly the technique used by your medical professional. For instance, younger patients metabolize threads faster than older patients. Patients with chronic health conditions have weaker immune system and that slows down the thread dissolving time. Smoking, alcohol consumption and stress can also affect the body’s metabolism to break down threads. Things to do to speed up the dissolving process include: 1- Administering ascorbic acid topically or via injection. Ascorbic acid aka. Vitamin C promotes collagen synthesis which therefore help break down the threads. 2- Injecting hyaluronidase into the treatment area break down the threads more quickly. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that break down the hyaluronic acid found in PDO threads. 3- Applying heat to the treatment area has shown to help break down threads more quickly by increasing blood flow. This can be done by massaging the treatment area and applying heat therapy. Patients should consult with the a healthcare professional before attempting any of these techniques to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: PDO Threads / Dissolving Hello plasticbeauty, thank you for your question. I'm so sorry to hear you're dealing with this issue! PDO threads are designed to dissolve over 6-9 months, but it's frustrating when they don't behave as expected. If the threads are still visible and causing discomfort or issues, here are some steps you might consider: Consult a Facial Plastic Surgeon: Your first step should be to consult with a medical professional who specializes in threads and cosmetic surgery. They can evaluate the situation and recommend the best course of action based on the current condition of your skin and the threads. Minimally Invasive Treatments: In some cases, treatments like RF-microneedling or laser therapy can help address the issues caused by the threads by improving the appearance of the skin and promoting natural healing. Surgical Removal: If the threads are causing significant issues or discomfort, surgical removal might be necessary. This would involve a minor procedure to extract the threads and potentially repair any skin damage caused by them. Time and Patience: Sometimes, threads can remain visible or cause minor issues for longer than expected, but they might still gradually dissolve over time. Your provider should monitor the situation and advise on whether waiting a bit longer might be better. Ensure you get a thorough evaluation to understand the best approach for your specific situation. Best of luck! Answer: I hope this helps with your situation! I'm sorry to hear about your experience with PDO threads. While PDO threads are generally considered safe and effective, there can be risks and complications associated with the procedure. It is important to speak with a dermatologist or a board-certified plastic surgeon for further guidance on how to address your specific situation. PDO threads are designed to dissolve naturally over time, typically within 6 to 12 months. However, in some cases, the threads may not dissolve as expected or may shift out of place, causing discomfort or other issues. If this occurs, it may be necessary to have the threads removed or dissolved. There are a few options for removing or dissolving PDO threads, depending on the specifics of your case. One option is to have the threads surgically removed, which can be done under local anesthesia. Another option is to use an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which can dissolve the threads by breaking down the material they are made of. This can be injected directly into the area where the threads are located. It is important to note that both of these options come with risks and potential complications, such as scarring, infection, or other issues. It is important to discuss your concerns and options with a qualified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who has experience with PDO threads and their removal. In conclusion, if you are experiencing discomfort or complications from PDO threads that have not dissolved as expected or have shifted out of place, there are options for removal or dissolution. It is important to speak with a qualified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to determine the best course of action for your specific situation.

Answer: How long for PDO threads to dissolve? I had them 2 years ago Great question! Since Threading is popular but as we are now seeing results are very temporary and the complications are increasing! Appears if you still have threads present you were inserted "permanent" prolene threads, not dissolving threads! Maybe because the permanent threads are cheaper! Best to ask exactly what brand of threads were used.
