When can I use regular lotion after laser hair removal? 4 days post op.

I keep seeing online to use fragrance free lotions after your first session but it has been 4 days and i have not moisturized because i have no fragrance free lotion. When is it safe to use regular lotion without it affecting my skin?

Laser hair removal will not be affected by using moisturizers or lotions after treatments. Keep in mind, it will take a series of treatments. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question. It is okay to use lotion 2 days after treatment if you do not have any skin irritation. If there is irritation it is best to wait till it subsides before applying lotion. Best of Luck!

I would wait at least 24-48 hours before putting on lotions with scents.  If your skin reacted well to the treatment and you have no redness or irritation you should be fine.  I recommend my patients use fragrance free just to make sure the skin does not react after treatment.  Your skin is sensitive after the treatment and you want to do your best to avoid any side effects.

Using a good skin moisturizer after laser hair removal is very important. It is critical to avoid products with alcohol which can dry the skin. I prefer to use a dimethicone containing product or better yet, a ceramide containing moisturizer and a quality sun screen.

It is safe to use regular lotion on day 2 if you do not have any skin irritation from the laser hair removal. If you do have some irritation, you should wait until it subsides then continue with your normal skin care routine.
