For the past 6-8 weeks I've been experiencing increasing pain under/next to reconstructed breast. It is radiating around my shoulder area and can be painful when breathing. Very sensitive to touch, but the pain seems to come and go, usually worse towards end of day and night and can wake me up when its at its worst. Can this pain be caused due to scar tissue? I had a non eventful recovery post surgery with no real pain and no problems

It is definitely not wrong to ask your plastic surgeon about correcting this. He or she may not be able to correct the problem, but if it bothers you, it is worth discussing it.
Radiation poses significant challenges to the reconstructive plastic surgeon, especially in thin and active patients such as yourself. The problem is two fold. First, thin patients often have thin mastectomy flaps and tenuous coverage of implants. Second, the radiation can worsen the situation...
Please contact your surgeon. A temperature and pain associated with you tissue expander based reconstruction signs of infection which require immediate attention.IV Antibiotics maybe necessary if there is going to be an opportunity to salvage the reconstruction.
