Chewing pain week after temporary crown. Any suggestions?

Got a temporary crown a week ago. Had No tooth pain for first couple days after appointment. Now on day 5, 6 and 7 sensitivity to chewing is causing discomfort and now pain - only on chewing. Is it "too high"? I really don't want a route canal. Options?
