I had my front 2 teeth bonded about 3 weeks ago. I have a whitening tray with whitening gel that I use occasionally. It comes with a small LED light and I usually keep it in for 45 minutes. Is this safe to do with the bonding in place?

I would see a dentist to evaluate them first and if appropriate have your teeth professionally whitened. This may involve in-office as well as home whitening procedures to get your teeth to the color you want. If there are other issues going on, then veneers may be the solution, but...
All whitening products today whether over the counter or from a dental professional can only whiten tooth structure specifically enamel. They will not have any effect on fillings or porcelain.
Butter should not cause any staining of your teeth. You should avoid foods/drinks with artificial coloring in them such as sodas, curry, red wine, etc...Usually it takes 24 to 48 hours for teeth to get rehydrated and become somewhat resistant to picking up stain.
