After FaceTite, does neck skin sag? (Photo)

Question

I just had the Facetite procedure done on my neck/chin a couple of days ago. I've been wearing my head wrap 24/7 since, other than taking it off for a couple of minutes to clean and apply ointment. I can't help but notice that my neck/chin look really strange. skin is sagging ... A LOT. Will this bounce back? Its way worse than before and I'm starting to think I made a huge mistake will need a neck lift after this.

Hi Lili73,Sorry to hear of your frustrations.It is possible to get swelling of the neck that lasts several weeks after FaceTite®.  Of course, wearing the wrap and perhaps an oral steroid taper can help this come down faster.  Over the course of the next several weeks to months you should notice improvement in the neck contour.Follow closely with your surgeon.Best wishes on your healing,Dr. Jay

Thank you for your question. After having a facetite procedure done, the tissues take some time to remodel and heal. In addition to that there can be a fair amount of swelling, even with the compression dressing. The tissues will continue to change and remodel for up to a year after the procedure. If you have concerns I encourage you to follow up with your surgeon so they can examine your tissues and guide you. Good luck!

There will continue to be changes with skin and soft tissue remodeling.  I generally have my patient's massage the area under their chin and neck following FaceTite along with wearing compression.  Make sure you continue to follow-up with your surgeon.  Take care. Timothy A. Janiga MD, FACS

facetite works by heating the deep tissues to a specific temperature to cause support structures to tighten. I have never had a patient that failed to be better than before treatment. Some of course get better results than others. The tightening however, takes some months to develop. Be patient and see how things go.
