Will my nipple/areolas ever match again, or is this areola basically just a huge scar now instead of an areola? (Photo)

Question

My nipple/areola is finally healing from a really bad scab after a lift with implants. I’m 3.5 mo post op now. After day one it was purple, then black, then pus and scabbed for a couple of months, finally just pink now. My question is will it ever remotely match their other ? Or is this basically just a huge scar that I will be left with at this point? Thanks for your input.

Thank you for your pictures.  It is difficult to say how the scar will heal longterm.  Patients vary on how long it takes for their scars to completely mature.  It can typically take 6-18 months to completely mature.  Please give this time. If in the future it still bothers you, you could invest in medical tattooing which gives incredible results.  All The Best

Hello, based on your description it sounds like there was some breakdown of the areola and delayed healing.  Typically scars will soften and mature for at least a year so your appearance will continue to change for some time.  At that point you can discuss with your surgeon the different options to improve symmetry with the other areola.

I am sorry to hear about your unexpected scarring. It is difficult to say what the long-term outcome will be. Scars will continue to fade and improve throughout the first year. I would be patient at this point. A scar revision may be needed in the future, but at this point it is a wait and see. Hope that this helps.

so would suggest you give this plenty of time to see if it can get back to closer to what it was before.  It's not likely it will be perfect as it was before your injury but must give it time and allow yourself to decide if it 'good enough'.
