Thank you for your question.Anytime you cause trauma to an area the normal sensation can change.  Even during surgery the nipple sensation can be disrupted, causing it to become hyper or hyposenstive. After the swelling has gone down, this sensation usually returns to normal.  Give it some time, the sensation may return.  If it does not, I am sure this is something they warned you about prior to getting the piercing.
