Was a nerve in my nipple cut? This happened 1 month ago

I got my nipple pierced and all previous sensitivity/sexual arousal in my nipple vanished. I can still feel my nipple but it's just like any other body part now, but no longer sensitive. Did the piercing cut a nerve? I read online that if a nerve is cut it will never grow back. Does this mean I won't regain sensitivity in my nipple? I took the piercing out and I had a tingling sensation in my breast and nipple that lasted about 20mins and then it went away. Were my nerves cut or just damaged?

Hello,It is possible that you have damage to the nerve but also possible that this will gradually resolve over the next 6 months or so. You will need to wait and see.All the best

Thank you for your question.Anytime you cause trauma to an area the normal sensation can change.  Even during surgery the nipple sensation can be disrupted, causing it to become hyper or hyposenstive. After the swelling has gone down, this sensation usually returns to normal.  Give it some time, the sensation may return.  If it does not, I am sure this is something they warned you about prior to getting the piercing. Good Luck.
