How long do cut nerves take to repair?

My nipples have always been sensitive and I got my nipple pierced about a month ago. And it made my nipple sensitivity decrease. My nipples can no longer be aroused. I went to my doctor and he suggested that I take out the piercing so that the nerves can repair themselves in order to get my sensitivity back. I took out the rings but my sensitivity has not returned. Did the piercing cut my nerves? Will my sensitivity ever come back? If so, how long will the nerves take to repair themselves?

Hello,occasionally sensation loss from nerve damage can be permanent, but more often the feeling will slowly come back throughout the next few months. I recommend that you re evaluate closer to 6 months.All the best

Thank you for your questions. Unfortunately nerves grow at different rates and it can take many months sometimes even longer for sensation to return, it is still quite early in your recovery so give it some time. I would not recommend getting your nipple re-pierced.

Since you lost sensation, it is sure that the piercing damaged some nerves. Normally, the effects of this kind of damage are not permanent, but it may take many months, or even a year, for the nerves to grow and reconnect.
