Facial swelling after laser peel. Is this normal?

Inhad the fractional c02 laser done 5 days ago , all the normal expected results are happening, I'm now just puffy & peeling , I'm doing the creams & all the aftercare, my only concern is the swelling was only supposed to last 3 days, I have puffy cheeks & jowls!!! My mouth looks small from the puffed up jowls & my eyes look sunken in because of the puffiness....I had this procedure done just for rejuvenation. I don't want permanent disfigurement, I've read a lot of horror stories on this site

In my practice you will be swollen for weeks after co2 laser resurfacing especially since we do full eye lid, neck and chest laser.  I suggest oral antihistamines, oral diuretics and oral prednisone if you are concerned. Best, Dr. Emer.

Good morning, Swelling and puffiness is normal and can last up to 10 days. Please discuss this with your Laser surgeon. As long as there is no pus or blistering and little to no pain, the swelling is expected. I often use a shot of Kenelog 40mg IM to reduce the swelling if it persists.Again; this is something you should discuss with your doctor.

Laser resurfacing can cause some post-op swelling which usually subsides in 7-10 days. You need to check in with the surgeon who did the laser because the description of the amount of swelling does seem a bit excessive. A short course of oral steroids (medrol dose-pak) could help with the edema resolution.
