I know this sounds like a cop-out, however as the surgeon I would have information based on how your specific case went intraoperatively and better assess the risk vs benefit for you personally. That said, on average I would wait at least 6 weeks after surgery to allow the swelling to improve, blood supply to be well established, healing to be stable.
