What can I do about this redness on my upper lip after laser hair removal?

I am using laser for removing hair on the upper lip for 6 months or so, but since last month, redness has appeared on the upper lips. Now I'm afraid this spot won't go away as I have been told that if you don't use sun protection regularly after the hair removal, dark or red spots appear and stay in your skin. please help:\
