Hi there,A bonded retainer is attached to the teeth using composite specially designed for this purpose. Your whitening should not interfere with this at all. If you have whitening trays that you use, make sure that these are well fitting. If you are using light-activated whitening such as Zoom, the bonded retainer should not pose a problem as whitening is performed on the opposing side of the tooth and in any case has no impact on the retainer or the glue, as long as it is performed by a competent and qualified medical professional.Hope this helps!Best,MJ x

My dental practice also uses the Kor Whitening in office tooth whitening gel and tray system. Kor works on intrinsic or interior staining caused by Tetracycline as well.
Great question and yes--having the bonded retainer is not an issue for office or home whitening.Be aware that any composite bonded to your teeth inhibits access from the bleaching gels as well but a retainer is usually not much of an issue.good luck!

Whitening gel has a expiration of about a year and that is with refrigeration. By now the whitening material has degraded and will be ineffective. I would suggest throwing out the remaining gel and return to your dentist to purchase refills, they are not to expensive.
There are several options for whitening teeth or bleaching them and some methods are more effective than others. Some dentists opt for cosmetic contouring, using a bonding material to cover teeth. If your current family dentist isn't giving you the answers you were hoping for it doesn't hurt to ...
