Is It Normal to Have a Stuffy Nose 1 Month After Septoplasty? (photo)

A stuffy nose after septoplasty is common.  I tell my patients that they can expect to feel some congestion after surgery.  It is around a month that this congestion begins to resolve.  You had a surgery inside the nose, and the only way that your nose knows to respond to surgery and irritation, is to become swollen and to make mucous (both things contribute to your feeling of congestion).  From your photo, it looks like you had a rhinoplasty performed in addition to septoplasty.  In my experience, the more surgery that was performed on the nose, septoplasty, sinus surgery, turbinate reduction, rhinoplasty, the more swelling and time for full recovery.

So, I would not "panic".  Give it some time for your body to heal, and be sure to attend your follow up appointments with your surgeon.
