Is it normal for my teeth to be loose after wearing a retainer?

I have been on and off with my retainers ever since I got them about 4 years ago. I just put them in last night after not wearing them for a month and they were extremely tight. When I took them out this morning, I could feel that the majority of my lower teeth were loose. Is this normal? Will they go back to where they were supposed to be and stop being loose?

As long as a few hours elapse between the 2 visits, there should not be a problem having the impressions the same day.

Yes, it is a problem if your attachments are off or partially off. They provide essential leverage. Call your dentist and they will replace them I'm sure.
