Is the CO2 fractional laser an effective treatment for Malar Edema? (Photo)

I have been researching which type of laser to have done to help with the texture of my skin and to tighten. I also have Malar Edema caused from injections under my eyes. I have been to a few consultations and need some advice: Should I have the CO2 fractional laser done or Fraxel?

Neither Fraxel or fractionated CO2 laser, in my opinion, will do much for malar edema. Both Fraxel and fractionated CO2 laser will improve the quality of your with the fractionated CO2 laser tightening the skin considerably more then Fraxel.

The CO2 laser probably will not help reduce your malar edema but it can tighten the skin. Over time, the malar edema can go away and you get very swollen after the CO2 laser resurfacing is performed. The combination therefore would help improve the appearance of your face. In addition, I would recommend that you have fat transferred to the sunken areas under your eyes and that would improve your outcome significantly. See below for a great example of this.
