Is it normal to have inner heat after a tummy tuck?

Hi there, I’m hitting Day 14 of a full tuck. Is it normal to have an “inner heat” feeling? Also can’t stand up straight or take a full breath because everything feels so tight!! I am walking around hunched over a bit. My doctor doesn’t want me wearing the garment because they felt it was restricting blood flow...any recommendations on what I should be wearing around that area

It is not unusual to have odd sensations in the abdomen after a tummy tuck.  Warmth, itching, tingling and cramping are not uncommon.  Occasionally though, heat can be a symptom of a fluid collection (seroma) or an infection.  Fluid collections can at times be visible as liquid moving around under your skin and infections can have redness and fevers but sometimes the symptoms are very subtle and need to be evaluated by the surgeon.

Congratulations on having undergone the tummy tuck procedure. It is hard to know whether the sensation of "inner heat" is normal or not.  Your plastic surgeon, looking at your entire clinical picture, will be in the best position to provide you with accurate assessment, advice, and (probably) meaningful reassurance. He/she will also be in the best position to advise you regarding appropriate garment use. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.

By two weeks post op, and typically well before that, my patients are standing erect.  Before recommending a binder, it is important to rule out any complications such as seroma or infection, both of which could produce a sensation of warmth in the abdomen.
