So I went to the dentist today in hopes of closing in the gapes between my teeth (the upper ones) and to fix the small open bite I have. She said that veneers will be a quick fix for this problem and I don't mind getting it but then she said I needed to have root canal on my two front teeth which I couldn't understand why. To my knowledge, root canal is for inflamed or infected teeth and my teeth are perfectly healthy and strong. Can someone please advice me on this?

Please upload photos, so we can guide u in proper way. i feel u r saying buccally placed canines . that is not possible by veneers or crowns. because good amount of tooth reduction is required in such cases . best option for u is braces.
Please upload pics of teeth preparation. otherwise its very difficult to say anything. in your case its re veneering , so little more preparation is must.
