Does moving the root of tooth take 9 months with Invisalign? (Photo)

Hi, I have been going to Invisalign consultations and getting dramatically different answers as to how long my treatment would take. One doctor told me it would take 9 months to shift my upper front teeth since the root is crooked and moving the root takes a longer time. Other doctors have told me it would take only 4-5 months and that my case is easy. I am conflicted and don't know what is more accurate.

Hey there! This question is a bit more complex even though it seems simple. There are a ton of different ways to achieve smile improvements (ie. 9 month treatment plan and 4-5 month treatment plan). Neither is incorrect. It does take longer to move roots than simply tipping the crown (white part of teeth). Putting the roots in their proper position helps the teeth stay in their "new" place whenever you are done with treatment. Other factors that play into treatment time is the provider's experience and comfort level using Invisalign. 
Also, the provider quoting 9 months could be attempting to set up low expectations with the idea of over-delivering! My suggestion is to go with the provider that will listen to your specific wants and who will collaborate with you on ways of reaching your ideal treatment time!Smile Big,Dr. Brice
