Will Fractora RF help my acne scars? Are there laser treatments that will work for Asians with Fiztpatrick Type IV skin? (Photo)

I have Fiztpatrick Type IV skin. I want to treat my acne scars and it seems that more ablative treatments are better for deeper boxcar scars. One derm surgeon recommended subcision with 5-6 Fraxel Re:store treatments because of the shorter downtime (4-5 days). A derm PA said that Fractora RF was best because of my Type IV skin and that I was not a good candidate for lasers. Are there any good lasers for my scars and skin type? (Is Fractional CO2 good for me? "1 session [$4k] = 50-70% improved")

Hello,Fractora would be a great treatment for your skin type. It's also safer for patients with a Fitzpatrick 4-6. With any acne scarring treatments it can take a few sessions to see a significant difference.  Also, combining other treatments together can accelerate results.Best wishes,Dr. Anil Shah

Hello,  I hav seen great results with Fractora RF on all skin types.  The Fractora has a great protective "coded" needles for darker and asian skin.  I would recommend having a consult with a Dr. in your area and possibly using it in conjunction with PRP.

The derm PA was right in telling you that lasers can result in more hyperpigmentation. Fractora RF would be safer for your skin type and as was suggested for the series of treatments for the Fraxel I would also recommend a series of Fractora treatments spaced at least 6 weeks apart. The best outcome will come from combining with other treatments such as Bellafill.

Thank you for your question and posting your photos. The best approach to acne scars is multi-modal. Fractora RF is an excellent part of this treatment plan as it is safe on all types of skin color when used properly. Lasers can result in post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. We generally recommend 3-5 or more Fractora RF treatments and often combine this with Bellafill and sometimes PRP. The goal is to achieve a 50% or more improvement. Yes, you will get MINIMAL improvement with this type of scarring, atrophic, tethered and anchored. Manual subcsion is best, one of the best Specialist in the US is Dr Novick, he is active on this forum, I suggest you see him.
