Is it ethical of my Orthodontist to charge $2.500 for Invisalign refinements?

I am an Elite Premiere Provider, with practices in N.Y City. I think that your orthodontist's demand that you pay for refinements, which currently are supplied to him, free of charge is both unethical and irresponsible. If you signed a contract, check it carefully. If he refuses to provide you these aligners, without cost, I would contact Invisalign to inform them of this egregious practice. However, enen if he recants, do yoy want to continue treatment with such an individual?

It does not matter what Invisalign charges your doctor.  Your contract is between you and your doctor.While Align may not charge your doctor to get the aligners, there is extra work in getting a new ClinCheck for your case and planning the tooth movements.  This is the biggest single step the doctor can do to help ensure your treatment works well.  If the ClinCheck is done well, most of the work is done.  There is also the cost of extra visits as you mentioned.We have a similar fee when non-tracking is due to patient compliance.  This is however noted in the initial contract.Good luck!
