Can I close 2mm gap between canine and premolar using dental bonding?

First you need to ask your orthodontist if your canines are in the correct position to provide guidance during lateral jaw movements.  This is important because it will protect your other teeth in lateral excursion(when you move yout lower jaw to the left or right with your teeth in occlusion., As you do this, you willl slide up the lingual surface of the canine.  Once you reach the top, there should be space between your back teeth.  If the position of the canines are correct, they will protect back tooth wear and/or loosening of back teeth.  It the canine positions are correct, then bonding could be an alternative for you.  The bonding must be done meticulously so there are no catches or shredding when flossing. Also, there should be good contact between your canine and bicuspid to ensure that food does not get caught between your teeth.You should be aware that bonding can and will chip, crack, or stain and will require good daily maintenance and occasional touch ups or repairs, for which you would incur additional fees.  A  2 mm gap is not excessive, and we have done this procedure many times with very good success and happy, satisfied patients.
