How many inches can be safely added to the butt during a Brazilian Butt Lift?

The patient's weight and height characteristics, along with the desired effect to be achieved on the buttock, should be considered. it doesn't work that way. A surgeon can't tell you how much increase in size he will get after surgery. He can make a guess how much fat can be removed and transferred to the buttocks. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

As all individuals have varying baseline buttock projection and hip width, added volumes to the area will have a different effect on different bodies. If you are a good candidate (less than 5L of fat) for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), the optimal outcomes are achieved with: 1) use of VASER liposuction to harvest the fat, 2) a closed looped system such as Puregraft to process the fat, and 3) strategic micro-packet transplant technique. These three processes have demonstrated over 95% fat graft take. This means that your results will be stable as long as you maintain your weight. As an official VASER trainer, I am routinely referred unhappy BBL patients. One of the most common reasons for disgruntled BBL patients is that patients are not able to accurately communicate their desired buttocks goals to their surgeons. BBL results are never measured as a length and is not usually measured by anything other than aesthetic outcomes. The only numbers involved are the amount of fat removed from Liposuction and the amount of fat grafted which is a measurement of volume.
There are numerous inherent limitations to what can and cannot be achieved with fat transfer. The biggest limitation is the amount of available host tissue. Over grafting beyond what is available to support the graft leads to an increase percentage of graft loss or graft failure. Generally speaking plastic surgeons can attempt to double the thickness of subtitaneous tissue planes end of this a certain percentage of fat will survive. For example, if someone has 1 inch of subcutaneous fat on their buttocks and that could be grafted to a thickness of 2 inches. If half the fat survives the final thickness will be 1.5 inches
If on the other hand the host tissue thickness is 1/2 inch then it can be brought up to 1 inch and patient should expect the final outcome of 3/4 of an inch. Excessive grafting leads to increased graft failure with increased complications and fat necrosis.
There are also other variables like cellulite or connective tissue that simply prohibit how much projection the skin can have in this part of the body.
One way to conceptualize the limitation based on connective tissue is the lift the skin by pinching the skin on the back of your hand.
The skin on the back of your hand does not have a lot of connective tissue and you can pinch and tent up the skin easily. Not try that in the middle of the palm.
On the Palmer side of the hand there’s a lot of connective tissue anchoring the skin in place and it’s not possible to get skin projection with connective tissue holding the skin down.
This type of connective tissue is abundant on the lower part of the buttocks and for some people. I have substantial limitations on what can or cannot be achieved.
It is not as simplistic as dialing in to some inch measurement.
Finally delivering consistent quality liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people believe. To get Quality results patients need to focus their efforts and finding the most talented and experienced provider for these procedures. I recommend doing that by having multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons.

Hi and welcome to our forum!During performance of a BBL, fat is aspirated from areas where there is fatty excess and is transferred to the buttocks. The injected fat will fill the skin envelope, resulting in increased buttock projection. A smaller envelope will not contain as much fat as a larger envelope. Filling of the envelope is continued until there is back pressure, indicating that a maximum fill has been reached. The amount of projection increase depends upon the size of the envelope and the laxity of the overlying skin. We use the metric system to measure the amount of fat transferred. Most patients receive less than 800 cc per buttock, but in some cases, up to 1500 cc per buttock has been achieved.It is not common practice to measure inches of buttock projection during physical examination.Look at your surgeon's collection of pre and postoperative photographs.
