I have already asked this question multiple times, but I wanted more options to see which one is best suited for me. So I have an indentation in my chin whenever I smile/talk. It’s really fusturating because it looks really weird and it brings my self esteem down. Also I am not an adult yet so I would like to know what age I am able to get this procedure done so that whenever I turn that age I can get it over with. Thank you for your time.
Answer: Have you tried a little Botox? Some people have excessive movement of the mentalis muscle, and this can lead to dimpling and indentations in the skin. A trial of Botox is non-invasive, and may do the trick. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Options for Addressing Chin Indentation When Smiling or Talking Addressing a chin indentation that becomes noticeable when you smile or talk can be approached in a few different ways, depending on the underlying cause and your age. Here are some options that might be considered, along with general guidelines regarding age for cosmetic procedures: Dermal Fillers: Fillers can be used to smooth out indentations by adding volume to the area. This is a minimally invasive option that provides temporary results, typically lasting from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the type of filler used. Many practitioners prefer to perform these procedures on individuals who are at least 18 years old, but this can vary based on local regulations and the specific clinic's policies. Botox Injections: If the indentation is caused by muscle movement, Botox can be used to relax the muscles and reduce the appearance of the indentation. The effects are temporary, lasting 3 to 6 months, and are generally considered safe for adults. Surgical Options: For a more permanent solution, surgical procedures such as fat grafting or a chin implant might be considered. These options are more invasive and typically recommended for adults, usually 18 years or older, after a thorough evaluation by a plastic surgeon. Consultation with a Specialist: It’s important to consult with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who can evaluate your specific condition and recommend the best treatment options. They can also advise you on the appropriate age for the procedure based on your individual growth and development. Non-Surgical Skin Treatments: Sometimes, skin tightening treatments or laser therapies can improve the skin's texture and appearance, which might help reduce the appearance of indentations. Since you're not yet an adult, it's crucial to discuss these options with a guardian and a qualified healthcare provider who can guide you on the best course of action and timing for any procedure.

Answer: Chin Filler Hello! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Aesthetic Skin in Winnetka and Chicago. This is a great question. Chin fillers could be a great solution for addressing the indentation in your chin, especially when you smile or talk. Chin fillers, typically made from hyaluronic acid or other dermal fillers, can help smooth out these indentations by adding volume to the chin area, providing a more balanced and youthful contour. The procedure is minimally invasive and can deliver immediate results, with minimal downtime. The effects last several months to a year, depending on the type of filler used. Since you mentioned you're not yet an adult, it’s important to know that it is recommended to wait until you are at least 18-21 years old, as facial features are still developing during adolescence. Once you reach this age, you'll have more flexibility to explore chin filler treatments. I hope this helps and best of luck!
