Will my insurance cover my gastric sleeve?

I have medicaid/ fidelis care and would like to know if I can get coverage for a sleeve gastrectomy. My BMI is 46% ( 5'6 and 286 pounds) I have no comorbidites, however I have been overwieght since birth and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism from from a young age.

In New York State it is required that all insurance companies cover bariatric weight loss surgery.  Because your BMI is over 40 you do qualify for the sleeve gastrectomy.  You should make an appointment with an experience bariatric surgeon to learn more.

Good morning Viviana You are a candidate for a bariatric surgery, its possible the medicate give you the coverage, but if you go the selfpay process will be fast. first i recommend you to make an appointment with a bariatric surgeon.
