I am looking into getting a mastopexy + breast augmentation however I have Factor V (heterozygous). I have never had a clot, do not smoke, am on progestin only bc, am a healthy weight, and lead a healthy lifestyle. I am not currently on any blood thinners. My mother( also heterozygous) died of a blood clot but never took any precautions as she had been undiagnosed. Is surgery too risky for me or would blood thinners make this a safe possibility?
Answer: Surgery You need to discuss this with a hematologist first to see what would be recommended for you prior, during, and after surgery. You will need a medical clearance for surgery.

Answer: Breast augmentation + mastopexy Dear Affectionate930775, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. You will need to get clearance from your doctor prior to surgery. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Factor V Thanks for your question! I do think you can safely have surgery as long as your surgeon has the blessing from your hematologist. I would suggest a consultation to find a surgeon that is comfortable operating on patients with Factor V. Good luck!

Answer: Considering a breast augmentation + mastopexy, but I have Factor V (heterozygous) - is surgery too risky? Factor V Leiden (heterozygous) is a blood clotting disorder that can increase the risk of blood clots. It’s important to consult with a medical professional, preferably a hematologist, before undergoing surgery, especially one as invasive as breast augmentation and mastopexy. They can assess your specific situation, discuss the potential risks, and help you make an informed decision regarding surgery. Your surgeon will also need to be aware of your condition to take appropriate precautions during the procedure. Always prioritize your safety. We would be happy to discuss this with you in more detail. Please visit us online to request a consultation or chat with our friendly appointment coordinators via live chat.

Answer: Factor V and breast augmentation The decision to perform breast augmentation in someone with Factor V (a blood clotting disorder) should be made on an individual basis. Patients with Factor V may have an increased risk of developing blood clots. It is crucial to assess the patient's medical history, consult with their hematologist, and consider appropriate preventive measures such as anticoagulant therapy during and after surgery. At Blue Ocean Plastic Surgery, we typically collaborate with the patient's medical team to ensure a safe surgical plan. It is advisable to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon and a hematologist prior to surgery. In my experience, patients with your condition can safely undergo cosmetic surgery, such as breast augmentation with mastopexy. Ultimately, a thorough evaluation by a board certified Plastic Surgeon will help determine the best personalized plan to reach your goals. I hope this helps.
