2023: Which is the better option for facial fat transfer beautifill or traditional with lipo and which lasts longer, thanks!
Answer: Beautifill vs. traditional fat transfer? It is impossible to compare well established procedure like "traditional" micro and nano fat transfer with something that is very new. Harvest of fat grafts with laser assited liposuction may have not be proven to be superior to a more traditional harvest methods. Viability of these grafts need to be evauated in scientific studies, which is very difficult and time consuming; technology runs far ahead of experience, sometimes. So, my answer is wait and see. You may be one to tell us about your experience. Rememer, it takes good 8-12 months for fat grafts to take, mature and settle. Hope that I did not confuse you further.

Answer: BeautiFill Fat Transfer Facial fat transfer is an excellent treatment and offers natural, comprehensive rejuvenation. While there are multiple modalities currently available on the market, the BeautiFill system offers several key advantages. BeautiFill uses laser technology to gently remove fat from the donor site. This technique prevents damage to the fat cells, which means that there is a higher fat cell survival in the recipient site (face). Studies have supported these claims with over 90% fat cell survival. Final results are seen at 3-6 months, and facial fat transfer can last years. - Dr. Maggie Kober

Answer: It's the technique and surgeon experience that matter. BeautiFill fat transfer is a newer technology that combines laser-assisted liposuction with fat grafting, aiming to optimize the quality of harvested fat cells, which can potentially enhance graft survival. Traditional fat transfer, on the other hand, utilizes manual or machine-assisted liposuction without the integrated laser system. The longevity of the results is influenced not just by the harvesting technique but also by factors like the purification process, reinjection technique, and post-operative care. Some proponents of BeautiFill suggest that the system may yield higher fat cell viability, leading to potentially longer-lasting results. However, the most critical determinant of longevity is often the expertise of the surgeon and the body's response to the graft. It's crucial to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can discuss the merits of each method based on your specific needs and goals.

Answer: Does Equipment matter? Generally speaking plastic surgeons have the equipment they need to do their job. The difference in potential outcomes are not related to what brand equipment is used, but rather the skill and experience of the provider. There are generally only two variables to determine the quality of cosmetic surgery outcomes. The first is the patient’s candidacy for the procedure, and the second is the skill of the surgeon. I suggest you focus on your efforts and understanding those two variables, since they are the only variables that really matter. The market is competitive and providers. Will try to differentiate themselves, especially after buying new expensive equipment. The type of equipment used in the end is not particularly important or mix very little actual difference. Understanding your own candidacy for the procedure and properly vetting plastic surgeons, but having multiple in person, consultations is key to consistent quality outcomes. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
