Hello all, I recently got my top 8 teeth done with eMax veneers. I asked the dentist to do the whitest shade possible. I showed him celebrity teeth and told him I wanted them super white. They are all done now and in place and look good- and natural. But, they aren’t super white. People look at them and don’t think “wow.” Even comparing them to my bottom teeth they don’t stand out as much whiter. Is there a reason for this? How can I get my veneers to be even whiter? How do the celebs do it?
Answer: #Veneers aren't white enough, what now? #DreamDentist Hi there, It's nearly impossible to whiten veneers after having them placed. The only way to get them whiter would be to have them redone. I would recommend posting your photos on RealSelf, so that we may see how they look. I always show my patients their veneers prior to inserting them, which I find, tends to solve this issue of not white enough/too white. I hope this helps and just click below to follow me if you may have future questions for me.Dr. Sarah ThompsonSt. Louis, MO and O'Fallon, IL

Answer: Emax veneers not white enough, like celebrity Smile! So sorry to hear about your emavx veneers, not being white enough.Emax porcelain by nature is more translucent, and not like Zerconia porcelain which is brighter and more opaque. If you had Emax veneers already done you can not get them whiter unless you redo them! Sorry about that!If you happen to have thin Emax veneers, there is possibility to see an expert cosmetic dentist to do a reverse bleaching technique, That may whiten your teeth a bit more!Best of luck.

Answer: My veneers aren't white enough, what can I do? Once cemented there is nothing you can do to change the color of porcelain other than redoing your veneers! It's very important to make sure you and your dentist are on the same page with regards to the esthetics of your final veneers. If there is any doubt, don't have the veneers permanently cemented. Most "Hollywood White " veneers are shades from the bleaching shade guide. These are unnatural shades that aren't found on a conventional guide. When choosing a shade, have your dentist take pictures of your face and smile with the shade tab close to your teeth. This way you can have an idea of how the veneers will look, especially in pictures. If you're on the fence between a few shades, have your dentist email you the pictures so your not pressured into choosing a shade you may regret. It's important to look at porcelain veneers in different lighting. Since porcelain is a glass, it reflects light. So your veneers will look different outside and in your house than they will in your dentists office.

Answer: My veneers are bright enough! There are several types of ingots (cubes) of Emax.... Some are more translucent and some are more opaque. It sounds like you preferred a more vibrant or opaque one in order to stand out. Also, when trying in veneers, I will always use a variety of different try in pastes. For example, Ivoclar Vivadent (company who makes Emax) has a great variety of try in pastes that can make the veneers more opaque, translucent, darker... My patients and I will evaluate this together so that the most ideal cement is chosen to achieve the look you are looking for in the end result. At this time, if you veneers are already cemented, it is too late for this option. This is why I won't cement the final restorations until the patient has evaluated them in the mirror and then approved them.

Answer: Veneers Hey Gymguy, So sorry to hear you do not like your eight veneers. I'm sure that you are frustrated with having made that investment but not meeting your expectations. Dentists often make veneers to look natural and tone down the brightness to suit their own personal expectations rather than just giving patients what they want. I've been guilty of that in the distant past. Now I state my opinion and go with what the patient wants. Unfortunately the only way to make these whiter is to remake them, and your dentist will not be thrilled with that possibility. He should have let you see them before attaching them to your teeth because once attached, they cannot be removed, especially Emax.
