Could Botox cause bags under my eyes this time?

Question

Four months ago I had my regular Botox and tested a very small amount in my crows feet. This made my eye muscle sag badly and it was very uncomfortable/painful (I had a very bad reaction) until about 3 weeks ago. It’s starting to improve but I feel like it’s not 100% worn off. I’m due for my forehead Botox. I’m very scared of something going wrong. Is there anyway forehead/glabella Botox could cause bags under my eyes this time? I’m going on a way for a month don’t want to look awful again!

Thank you for your question!   I'm sorry you had a bad a experience and not the outcome you were expecting.  Botox would not cause bags under the eyes.  I suggest following up with your injector or visiting another reputable doctor to discuss your concerns.  All the best!

Hello Lisa and thank you for the question. 
You are young and your eye muscles should be strong enough not to generate saddle  bags under the eyes. It is possible that some of the Botox injected in the Crow's Feet area migrated under the eyes. 
To avoid such complications, we ask our patients to be careful immediately after treatment and refrain from physical activity, facial heat exposure or avoid rubbing the area of treatment.
Botox treatment of the glabella and forehead should not give you this complication.You should be OK with the next treatment if all the mentioned precautions will be taken.

Thank you for your question! Your problem with the lower eyelid bags was caused by the injectors error and I would recommend that you go to someone who is well experienced in using Botox. Treating your forehead should not result in the same issues as long as the injector is experienced. Best of luck!

Sometimes when Botox is injected under the eyes or in the vicinity the lower oculi muscles are weakened and fat shows through as a bag.  injection in the forehead area should not cause this issue

Dear Lisa Lopez 18:Thanks for your question! Botox and Dysport are injectable muscle weakeners. When used on the upper face, the various muscles will be rebalanced to provide less wrinkling and therefore less lines or brow reshaping. When Botox / Dysport are placed too low along the side of the eyes, it can weaken the lower lid muscle which pushes the eye fat  in and therefore creates the bagging. You may continue with your plans for forehead injecting and allow the lower lid muscle to return to normal function.You may also consider a second opinion and if you do, seek a talented, skilled and experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon or Facial ENT.I wish you the best.
