Hi.I had question related to functional endoscopic sinus surgery (fess).After few weeks of my surgery,I noticed that I couldn't sneeze through my nose,and my nose is not so clear.When I wake up in morning,there are crust and mucus is in my nose.I am using saline rinse for 1-2 months daily.foul smell is also coming from nose when I breath with enegic rhithim.Excessive saliva is also coming.I had not been went to my doctor after nasal pack removing.Please tell me is I had to worry or not.

Hello. Thanks for your question. While it is normal to have some swelling and crusting inside the nose after sinus surgery, if you feel it has been getting worse, you might have an infection. In my practice, it is typical to see a patient back 2-3 times after sinus surgery to debride the crusting and mucus which can sometimes collect in the sinus cavities. If this is not done, sometimes that crusting and mucus can actually block the sinus and cause infection. The best option would be to see your surgeon as soon as possible for nasal endoscopy and evaluation.
