While it is normal to have some swelling and crusting inside the nose after sinus surgery, if you feel it has been getting worse, you might have an infection. In my practice, it is typical to see a patient back 2-3 times after sinus surgery to debride the crusting and mucus which can sometimes collect in the sinus cavities. If this is not done, sometimes that crusting and mucus can actually block the sinus and cause infection. The best option would be to see your surgeon as soon as possible for nasal endoscopy and evaluation.
