Will Botox slimming masseter injections work over jaw angle implants?

Question

Is this safe to inject the muscle over the implant? If so, will it just look strange as ill thin out the jaw muscle but not the corners of the implant? I had jaw angle implants several yrs ago and i think theyre slightly too wide but dont want more invasive surgery. I want jaw "slimming" botox to make my face look rounder by making my upper jaw wider than the square jaw. Is this possible or advised?

The Botox is injected into the masseter muscle, which sits over the jawbone and implants, and it doesn’t interact with the implant material itself.

However, your concern is valid—Botox will reduce the muscle bulk, not the implant volume. So while the muscle may slim and soften over time, the contour created by the implants will remain, especially if they were placed for angular definition. This can sometimes result in a visual mismatch—where the masseter thins but the jaw corners remain broad due to the fixed implant structure.

What to expect:

Safety: It is generally safe if performed by an experienced injector familiar with post-surgical anatomy.

Aesthetic outcome: Botox can soften the lower third of the face, but it won’t change the width or projection of the implants. Depending on your anatomy, this might enhance or emphasize the implant edges more.

Facial balance: If your goal is to create the appearance of a wider upper face in contrast to a slimmer lower face, Botox in the masseters can help, but results may vary depending on how prominent the implants are.

Recommendation: Start conservatively, monitor your results over 6–8 weeks, and assess whether additional treatments (like filler to the midface or cheek area) might complement your goals better than altering the masseters alone.

Implants are usually placed underneath the masseter muscle and,  for that reason, Botox injection in the muscle should not be a problem. Removal of the implants is significantly easier procedure than placement of jaw angle implants.
