There is a proper regimen to use hydroquinone to avoid side effects like permanent hyperpigmentation called as ochronosis. Kindly visit your nearby dermatologist or a cosmetic surgeon to guide you. Please go see a board-certified dermatologist to help you devise a plan for treating your scar. As a general rule, hydroquinone is used to treat hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin) and not scars per se. As noted by another doctor, prolonged use of hydroquinone can actually LEAD to hyperpigmentation (called ochronosis) instead of helping it, so hydroquinone should only be used under the care of a qualified physician and only for limited periods of time.
