Does a dental implant and crown need to have the same manufacturer when installed at the dentists office?

My dental implant surgeon uses a Strau--n and a Bio--i implant system. My restorative general dentist (at a different location) said that I should get a Strau--n implant but did not say why. And, I will not push him to ask about it. Does a Strau--n implant require a Strau--n crown or not? Thank you in advance.

The crown will not be made by the same company that manufactured the implant. The portion, called an abutment, that attaches the crown to the implant will have the same manufacturer as the implant. Any dental lab can produce a crown for any implant system. There are several excellent implant manufacturing companies. You dentist may feel most comfortable with a specific brand.

The Strauman implant system is one of the best on the market.Your dentists choice to use it shows his commitment to quality.The implant parts that may be used to fabricate the abutmentand crown do not have to be Straumann.  Straumann does maketheir own parts but this is usually limited to the abutment portionwhich is the interface between the crown and the implant.I usually prefer having a customized abutment and crown madein a reputable lab that has the same connection as the implant Iuse.  The quality in is not compromised as long asit is manufactured and inserted according to the specs of the Straumann implant system.
