In general, when porcelain veneers are worn, adding composite bonding is ineffectual especially on high stress/wear surfaces such as the incisal edges of the front teeth. A small chip can sometimes be repaired but generalized wear would be a waste of money rather than exploring proper replacement of the veneers. If your veneers are not porcelain and are made of bonding composite, you are in luck but I would evaluate your occlusion (bite) to see why they wore down in the first place.
Hi Rocky! If you have veneers that are composite veneers, you can have them bonded in the areas that have worn down. Composite veneers are built up in your mouth while porcelain veneers are fabricated in a lab and then bonded to the tooth using a resin cement. If your veneer was fabricated in the lab, you will probably need new ones made so they will look esthetically pleasing. Also have your dentist check to see your bite is off. You might need to wear a night guard if you are grinding your teeth or putting more pressure than necessary to cause this wear.
it's all depend of which kind of veneer do you have and how much are the worn at the edges....if they r composite veneers, ye you can.if they are porcelain unfortunately no. if the edges are not that worns and the chipping is tiny based on the aesthetic smile design outlook u can try to reshape them with a porcelain disc and make them even...but only if the final aesthetic is nice....so very unpredicatble.to be honest if you want a long succesful long term result i would re do them
The answer is maybe. If it feels rough but is not so much of a visible problem, then they probably can be filled or bonded. The more unusual the repair, the more experienced of a cosmetic dentist you need. Visit a good cosmetic dentist in your area (Josh Bernstein is in the Bay area) and they can sort out your options and cost-effectiveness of them as well. People wear down their natural front teeth or their dental work at different rates. In general heavy wear may indicate that your bite is out of balance. Re-balancing it ought to be considered along with filling the edges. Bonding when done with skill, artistry and finesse can create a wonderful result.
Veneers are bonded onto the teeth with composite. The porcelain covers the composite preventing staining of the composite. A matching shade of composite could repair and refine the edges of worn veneers, looking almost like new. Over a period of years, however, the bonding may stain from tea, coffee, red wine, etc.
Any time you have worn edges on the veneers you need to rule out the possibility of bite interferences. Although bonding composite to porcelain could be done, it is not very predictable. Your best bet is to replace veneers but need to find out why veneers are wearing off or chipping before you have a new set done.
An x-ray of your painful tooth should show two things, if the crown fits the tooth properly, and if the the tooth has died and already abscessed into the bone. It cannot show the health status of the nerve inside the tooth beyond those two things. If your tooth is sensitive to hot...
I would first try to get the orthodontist to fix the open bite problem you are having. If that is not an option, you can lengthen up to 2mm.
First and foremost please do not go to any dentist who calls themselves a cosmetic specialist as their is no such thing. The cost SHOULD be around 35-40k depending on how many teeth. There is something that we do called a new smile preview. This will relieve your anxiety of what...
