I'm 22 years old and having my breast reduction in 2 weeks! When I was 13 my breasts grew fast and since then have been heavy and saggy. I've had constant back pain for 6 years. I was at 213 at my heaviest but in the last 3 months lost 30 pounds and am not planning on stopping, but my breasts are keeping me from running and doing exercises that my chest interferes with. So I'm hoping to continue after surgery. I'm just nervous that they will become saggy again after losing more weight..

Answer: Possible You certainly can develop increased skin laxity after surgery if you lose more weight. Often you lose more volume and the upper part of the breasts lose volume just like after breast feeding. Frequently the nipple position doesnt change but continued sagging of skin cause a " star-gazing " appearance of the nipples. If you are planning significant( greater than 25 more pounds) you can consider delaying surgery. Most people are so anxious to rid themselves of the extra skin and weight that they proceed and deal with consequences( if severe) later. Weight lose will not obviate the need/desire for breast reduction in my experience. Good luck!

Answer: Weight loss after reductions will impact your volume and even your look as you could have some atrophy develop with a bottom heavy look. I've had patients lose enough weight that they actually came back for implants years down the road. Ideally you should be at your stable weight when having body contouring surgery but if you lose weight afterwards, you should assume there will be some changes in your breasts as well.
